Hello, my name is Alan Martin

I am a qualified Psychotherapist working in Nottingham.  I offer one-to-one counselling on a long term or short term basis for adults.

If you have been feeling down or need someone who will listen, then give me a call.

I have specific experience working with:

  • anxiety

  • depression

  • relationships

  • addiction

  • work stress

  • assertiveness

  • anger

  • trauma

  • autism

  • self-harm

  • sexuality

  • bereavement

  • stress

I work in a way that supports you to gain new ways of looking at life and help you gain awareness and meaning.

I believe that we humans are unique and have the ability to become our best possibilities. Choosing to come to counselling can be hard but I believe the counselling room can become a safe place where life can be discussed without fear of judgement.

I have obtained a British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) honours degree in Integrative Psychotherapy at the Sherwood Psychotherapy Institute. I have a wealth of experience working in Nottingham city centre with Nottingham Counselling Services where I have worked with a diverse group of clients.

I believe in promoting personal choice, growth and autonomy. I am passionate about my work and aim to provide a positive counselling experience.

Fees and contracting

I am based in the NG1 area, easily accessible form Parliament street bus stops and cheap parking on Brook Street. Alternatively I am available in the NG7 area.

My fee is £40 for a fifty minute session

Sessions are on a weekly basis.

On the commencement of therapy a contract will be in place to establish confidentiality, boundaries and assessment of risk.

Cancellation and punctuality

Fees are payable unless twenty four hour notice is given.

Please leave a text or message on my phone to cancel your session.

I ask you to arrive for sessions on time, as lateness will affect your counselling time and sessions cannot be extended beyond allotted time slot.

Payment is not due during holidays, but both parties will need to give advanced notice of holiday periods.

Length of therapy and endings

We will have the opportunity for reviews during our time together. This will give the chance to discuss progress and any new targets you may have. It will also give the opportunity for both parties in regard to the ending of therapy.
